Replace Blogger Title Tag - A New Hack

As you may have noticed, back in February all of us who were using certain modifications to the title tag in blogger system had to revert these changes back to the ugly default title tag. The blogger system is already so limiting in terms of SEO and functionality and when they took our liberty to display titles as we want it, I completely lost thrust in their system. And this was done by google, the biggest search engine which actually sets the standards of SEO. Luckily we can swap our blog titles again now, thanks to Jacky Supit, who found out that blogger implemented some new tags.

You actually have two choices of displaying your title and making it more SEO friendly. One is to completely abandon the blog title in your posts (my preffered option) and the second is to leave your blog title after page title.

Find:

<title><data:blog.title/></title>

Replace with either:

a) No blog title after page title

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'><title><data:blog.pageName/></title><b:else/><title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title></b:if>

b) With blog title after page title

<b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'><title><data:blog.pageName/><data:blog.title/></title><b:else/><title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title></b:if>
